Advocacy Starts Here: ABC's Family Advocacy Hub Is Now Live

You already advocate for your child every day. You ask questions at doctor appointments. You share what's working at home and what isn't during Family Guidance. You show up, speak up, and push for what your child needs. That kind of advocacy is powerful, and it's exactly what our Family Advocacy team is here to support.

Our team partners with families to share clear, reliable information about legislative initiatives that may impact access to autism services, including applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy. We advocate for meaningful policy change to help expand access to medically necessary autism treatment, while also connecting families to trusted resources, local support, and community events.

Our Family Advocacy hub is now live, designed to be your jumping-off point for advocacy opportunities in your community and how you can get involved.

What you'll find

Everything related to autism advocacy is now in one place. Stay informed, take action, or simply understand how policy decisions could affect your child's access to ABA therapy. You'll find:

  • A dedicated team with regional Family Advocates across Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas. They work closely with providers, payers, and policymakers to protect your family's access to medically necessary care for children diagnosed with autism.
  • Current focus areas. We're actively working on issues that matter to families, including insurance coverage, Medicaid policy, continuity of care, waitlist reduction, and early access to autism evaluation support.

  • Ways to get involved. Advocacy doesn't have to mean testifying before a legislature. It can be as simple as sharing your experience with a neighbor, sending an email, or attending a local event. We help amplify your voice when you're ready to use it.

  • Family stories. Hear from families who've taken action and seen firsthand how speaking up can lead to real change.

Check back often for new resources, regional updates, and tools to help you take action in your state!

Autism advocacy is always your choice

Participation in advocacy is completely optional. You'll never be pressured to attend an event, contact a legislator, or share your story publicly. Some families want to be deeply involved. Others prefer to stay informed from the sidelines. Both are completely valid, and your choice won't affect your child's ABA care at ABC in any way.

What we will always do is make sure you have clear, straightforward information when something changes that could affect access to your child's ABA treatment. You deserve to know what's happening so you can decide how, or whether, to respond.

Advocates & families: a shared mission

Advocacy is built into how we operate at ABC. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts® (BCBAs®) and Registered Behavior Technicians® (RBTs®) bring it to their work every day, and our advocacy team carries it into conversations with state legislators and insurance partners. The goal is the same across all of it: protecting access to life-changing ABA therapy for children diagnosed with autism.

When families get involved, that commitment goes further. Your experience as a parent carries weight that data alone can't match. It opens doors and changes minds.

Visit the Family Advocacy page to meet the team, explore current focus areas, and find out how to get involved. You can also explore Action Behavior Centers locations near you to get started.
