The primary goal of the M-CHAT is to detect as many cases of ASD as possible. In scientific terms, this is known as “maximizing sensitivity.” This means the test tries to be very sensitive and identify the most amount of children who may benefit from early intervention. The M-CHAT might say a child is “at risk” even if they don’t have autism. However, this high sensitivity ensures children receive the help they need who might otherwise slip through the cracks.
Does my child need an autism diagnosis before starting ABA therapy?
Yes. A documented autism diagnosis is required before your child can begin ABA therapy, receive insurance coverage for services, and access certain school programs. Action Behavior Centers offers no-cost evaluations, including the ADOS-2 and other Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations (CDEs), to help guide your next steps.

What is the age range of children you serve?
We serve children on the autism spectrum from 18 months to 13 years and offer personalized ABA therapy to meet their needs. Therapy program options may differ based on your region.

- Autism assessments: 18 months–6 years
- In-center ABA therapy: 18 months–8 years
- ABC at Home: 18 months–13 years
- ABC Academy: 5 years–12 years
