What is ABA therapy, and how does it work?
Applied behavior analysis therapy is a proven approach for helping children with autism build new skills and reduce behaviors that can make learning more difficult. Our ABA therapists use positive reinforcement and personalized strategies to support each child’s growth. The doctor said my child's development is delayed and suggested waiting to test for autism. Is that a good idea?
It’s understandable to want to trust that your child will catch up on their own, but waiting to seek an autism diagnosis can mean missing important chances for early intervention. Early diagnosis lets your child start therapies like ABA sooner, which can improve how they communicate and interact with others. Starting therapy early, ideally between ages 18 months to 5, gives your child the best chance to grow and reach their goals.
Does my child need an autism diagnosis before starting ABA therapy?
Yes. A formal autism diagnosis is required before a child can access early intervention services like ABA therapy, get insurance coverage for therapy, and qualify for certain school services. At Action Behavior, we offer the ADOS-2 and other Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations (CDEs) at no-cost to help provide diagnostic support. What is the age range of children you serve?
We serve children on the autism spectrum from 18 months to 13 years and offer personalized ABA therapy to meet their needs. Therapy program options may differ based on your region.
Ages served:
- Autism assessments: 18 months–6 years
- In-center ABA therapy: 18 months–8 years
- ABC at Home: 18 months–13 years
- ABC Academy: 5 years–12 years
