Job Description:  

 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting daily cash and payroll accounting activities, including insurance deposit processing, bank and payroll reconciliations, and accurate recording of journal entries across multiple subsidiaries. This role ensures cash, payroll, and related accruals are properly reflected in the general ledger and supports categorization and analysis of card and reimbursement spend. The Staff Accountant partners closely with Payroll, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), FP&A, and Finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, timely reconciliations, and continuous improvement of cash and payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Export daily insurance deposit data from the Bank portal to communicate across different departments
  • Track daily insurance deposits from the prior day and update year-to-date (YTD) tracking files
  • Reconcile lockbox and desktop deposits at the detailed line-item level
  • Prepare and post daily cash journal entries in NetSuite by subsidiary; review uploads for accuracy and completeness
  • Perform bank reconciliations for Wells Fargo and Chase accounts by reconciling ending balances per NetSuite to bank statements
  • Monitor and reconcile outstanding checks to ensure timely clearing and accurate cash reporting
  • Record all payroll-related journal entries and confirm reconciliation to cash  based on reports provided by payroll software and payroll team
  • Review payroll reports for accuracy and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and miscellaneous tax drafts and refunds, collaborating with the Senior Accountant and Payroll team to resolve variances and timing differences
  • Calculate and record monthly payroll accruals and ensure proper reversal in the subsequent month
  • Record bonus accrual based on calculations provided by the FP&A team and ensure proper reversal in the subsequent period
  • Assist with general ledger categorization of corporate card transactions and employee reimbursements, including preparation of related journal entries
  • Support budget review and spend analysis to identify cost-reduction opportunities
  • Assist with platform syncing, review data for accuracy and completeness, and troubleshoot syncing errors
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities related to payroll by reconciling payroll-related income sheet accounts, including wages, taxes, and benefit deductions

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience working on an accounting, payroll, or related function team
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher degree completed
