Position Description:
We need a compliance-savvy, analytical, and friendly Onboarding & Background Check Compliance Ambassador to help ensure that all ABC teammates are aligned with our onboarding standards and meet background check compliance expectations.
Job Title: Onboarding Compliance Ambassador
Department: People Services
Reports to: Sr. Director of Teammate Experience
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the background check process; identifying process improvement, monitoring efficiency, and ensuring compliance.
- Partners with key stakeholders across People Services, Talent Acquisition, Legal, and Clinical to ensure a compliant and smooth onboarding experience.
- Reviews background check reports and other onboarding documentation with accuracy and discernment; identifies items needing further review or clarification.
- Communicates promptly, professionally, and empathetically with candidates to gather facts and understand the context of any background check findings.
- Applies ABC’s internal criteria and FCRA standards to make informed decisions and escalate cases appropriately.
- Uses HR systems and tools to monitor onboarding and background check progress; maintains accurate documentation and tracking.
- Partners with vendors (such as Sterling) and internal systems teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure timely resolution of background check delays or discrepancies.
- Maintains awareness of state-specific onboarding and compliance regulations, including abuse registry checks, and supports teammates in understanding and completing any required steps.
- Upholds the values of ABC by using friendly, clear, and fact-based communication at every step of the candidate and teammate journey.
- Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, operations, onboarding, or compliance.
- Strong understanding of FCRA and background check laws.
- Experience working with HRIS systems, onboarding platforms, and background check vendors (Sterling experience a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, filters, formulas) and ability to analyze data effectively.
- High attention to detail and excellent critical thinking skills.
- Experience with Salesforce a bonus

This is a full-time temporary position with a duration of 5 months from the start date. The length is subject to change and the end date may be extended based on performance and business need.
