Job Description
Job Title: Safety Analyst Reports to: Safety Manager Type: Exempt Location: Remote or Austin HQ (with regular travel to center locations) Position Summary The Safety Analyst is field-focused responsible for conducting in-depth reviews of centers with elevated incident rates, workers’ compensation (WC) claims, or other identified risk indicators. This individual contributor role supports the Safety team by providing on-site assessments, analyzing root causes of injuries or safety concerns, evaluating safety practices, and partnering with center leaders on corrective actions. The Safety Analyst plays a key role in identifying risk trends, validating safety behaviors and controls, and helping prevent future injuries. Key Responsibilities Field Assessments & Deep-Dive Reviews
- Conduct on-site visits at center locations flagged for high incident rates, rising workers’ compensation costs, or other safety performance concerns.
- Perform analysis on prior incidents, facility walkthroughs, task observations, teammate interviews, and documentation reviews.
- Evaluate work practices, physical environments, client-specific risk and behavior-based safety practices.
- Provide real-time guidance and recommendations to center leaders during visits.
- Review incident trends, injury reports, WC claims details, and operational factors to identify underlying causes.
- Use structured problem-solving methods (e.g. 5-Whys, fishbone diagrams, task analysis) to determine root causes.
- Partner with center leadership to develop practical corrective actions and verify implementation
- Produce clear, concise reports summarizing site visit findings, risk levels, and required corrective actions.
- Track follow-up actions and ensure closure of identified issues.
- Provide data-informed insights to the Safety team to help prioritize future site visits and programs.
- Support delivery of targeted safety training during and after site visits (e.g. body positioning, lifting, risk recognition).
- Collaborate with the broader Safety team on high-priority initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s degree- 2+ years of experience in safety, risk management, claims management or field operations.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently to sites (50 - 75% depending on needs and geography).
- Strong observational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and influence without authority in field settings.
- Proficient with Google Workspace/Microsoft Office and general reporting tools.
- Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Healthcare, Psychology/Behavioral Science or related field.
- Experience working in clinical, healthcare or ABA services environments.
- Experience in incident analysis, ergonomics, or workers’ compensation.
- Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CHSP, or equivalent
- Field Presence & Engagement - Comfortable working in varied environments with diverse teams
- Analytical Thinking - Can interpret data, identify trends, and connect findings to root causes.
- Relationship Building - Collaborates well with center staff and leaders to drive improvements.
- Communication - Delivers clear, actionable messages and written reports.
- Problem Solving - Identifies practical, operational solutions to safety challenges.
- Adaptability - Effective in fast-paced, changing settings across multiple locations.
