We realize there are many questions that parents will have when their child faces a developmental delay such as autism. On each page of our website you can find answers to a variety of questions.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) describes a complex developmental condition characterized by a broad range of symptoms and behaviors. Some key indicators of ASD are a lack of communication (both verbal and nonverbal), deficits in social skills and social awareness, and avoiding eye contact.
Other symptoms include repetitive behaviors, sensory sensitivities, and persistent temper tantrum and meltdown behaviors. It can also be challenging for children on the Spectrum to learn self-help skills like toilet training, dressing, and personal hygiene.
Our Fort Worth – Alliance center offers diagnostic evaluations at no cost to help local physicians determine whether a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder is necessary for a child. The evaluation takes about 45 minutes to an hour and is very natural and play-based.
The ADOS-2 is seen as the gold standard in diagnosing ASD. Our highly trained BCBAs will complete the ADOS assessment at our Fort Worth – Alliance ABA Therapy center, and we will then fax the results over to the child’s physician to make the final diagnostic determination.
